St. George’s, 6th March 2024 - CARICHAM took a major stride towards supporting the bolstering of cybersecurity and digital resilience in the Caribbean business landscape with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with CaribNOG, the Caribbean Network Operators Group. Recognizing the pivotal role both organizations play in shaping the regional business and technology landscape, this collaborative effort, signed by Ms. Petipha Lewis, CARICHAM Chair, and Mr. Brent McIntosh, CaribNOG Technical Services Director, signals a united commitment to advancing the digital resilience of Caribbean organizations.

CARICHAM, a stalwart advocate for private sector interests, and CaribNOG, a nonprofit organization fostering secure and resilient internet and computer network operations and best practices, aim to jointly develop and implement advocacy and capacity building programs tailored to needs of the Caribbean private sector. This collaboration will encompass a spectrum of activities, including joint research initiatives, awareness campaigns, capacity building workshops, and conferences.

The partnership is the fruit of commitments made by the respective organizations at the Connected Caribbean Summit last December.  Ms. Lewis and Mr. McIntosh formalized this collaborative endeavor through a signing ceremony in St. Georges, Grenada, on Tuesday, 5th March 2024.

In a joint statement, Ms. Lewis and Mr. McIntosh expressed their enthusiasm for this partnership, emphasizing its potential to fortify businesses against emerging digital challenges. “This memorandum of understanding reflects a shared vision of prioritizing digital innovation and capacity building, aligning seamlessly with the strategic priorities and regional development goals of both CARICHAM and CaribNOG,” Ms. Lewis stated.“Our collaboration stands as a testament to the commitment of both organizations to fostering a resilient and secure digital future for the Caribbean private sector,” Mr. McIntosh stated.

As CARICHAM and CaribNOG embark on this pioneering initiative, they invite businesses across the region to work collaboratively in building a robust and secure digital ecosystem that supports and propels economic growth and innovation.
